Nineteen members attended the August meeting. We were joined by not one, not two, but THREE new members. Father and son, Tom and Ryan Beyer of Watertown, and Randy Raikes of Waukesha all paid their dues at the meeting.
Welcome Tom, Ryan, and Randy!
Lyal gave a presentation (including hand-outs) about steel medals that were sold to raise money to build the first public library in Waukesha. The medals were made by Schwaab Stamp & Seal of Milwaukee using steel rolled at a now-defunct mill in Waukesha, and feature the Seal of Waukesha on one side. Lyal showed two of the medals, one in its original box.
Treats for August were provided by Jeff Keough.
The next regular meeting of the Waukesha Coin Club will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 1, at the Waukesha Salvation Army meeting room located at 445 Madison Street. The Salvation Army is located one block west of the corner of Highway 18 and Madison Street. Enter through the back door and take the elevator to the second floor.
Jack Draak will be our speaker for September.
******* Thanks to everyone who brought in school supplies in August. We will be donating school supplies to the Salvation Army again in September. Check out the back-to-school sales for great deals!*******
Pot Coin: The pot coin for September will be any Mercury dime. If you have extras, please bring them along for other members to buy.

September Trivia Question:
World-wide, whose portrait has been portrayed on more individual coins than any other person? (Hint: We’re talking number of coins.)
If you think you know the answer, please write it down, and bring it to the next meeting. If your answer is correct, you will receive a ticket. A drawing will be held during the meeting and if your ticket is drawn, you’ll get a prize. Entrants must be present to win.
If you would like to be added to the e-mail distribution list, please provide me with your e-mail address. As an added bonus, you’ll get to see the newsletter in COLOR!
